For: All levels of fitness in humans, dogs must be a minimum of 6 months old, and no flat nosed breeds (pugs, shihtzus, etc)
What: What Is Canicross?
How Much: Class fee is $90, plus equipment that you can order AFTER the first class, approx $100-$120 each
When: Tuesdays at 6:45 PM Starting April 20th
The main difference between Canicross and simply running with your dog is that in Canicross, the dog is attached to the runner’s waist with a bungee leash. In this way, whenever the runner’s feet are off the ground, the dog pulls the runner forward.
The benefits of taking part in Canicross can extend far beyond the regular health perks of being active together. It strengthens the bond between you and your dog, and it helps you and your dog stay fit. You don’t need to be or want to be a runner to participate, the class is geared for all levels and injury prevention. As running is not set to be good for short noses, these include Pugs, Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Boxers, Pekingese, Shih Tzus, then a run walk or just strict walking program may be best. Any dog that is fit and healthy can take part in this program.
Rainy days, a cross training workout will be held indoors for you and your canine buddy.
We will show you proper warmup and cool down exercises and stretches
and have weekly chats about:
* Proper nutrition and hydration
* How to tell if your dog has had to much
* Guiding your dog thru a run
* Proper leash for your canine
* Injury prevention for both you and your dog including gait training and information
* Cross training outside of our weekly run
*Rest and Recovery
